Collection: Astra Militarum

Existing in untold numbers across the galaxy, the average human alone is a weak, fragile creature. Put together with millions of others as a fighting force, however, and they form a shield for the entirety of humanity. This shield is the Astra Militarum, endless numbers of regular soldiers backed up by incredible armoured vehicles and grim determination.

The average force of Astra Militarum in 40k is centred around vast amounts of infantry, lightly armed and armoured but capable of massed firepower. Behind them are their commanders issuing tactical orders, heavy armour delivering targeted destruction, and batteries of artillery removing targets from across the battlefield. They can also bring in specialist troops like the mounted Rough Riders of Tallarn, or the guerilla experts of the Catachan Jungle Fighters.

On the tabletop, the Astra Militarum play like a ‘traditional’ military force from our own world with a mixture of infantry, armour, and support. Even the best general of the guard will expect heavy casualties, relying instead on relentless numbers, bold leadership and carefully aimed cannons to win the day, no matter what the cost may be.

• Cadian Shock Troops - The beating heart of the army, these troops are expected to fight and die in mass numbers to achieve victory.
• Bullgryns - Twice the size of a normal man, these Ogryns are heavily armoured and shielded to take and deal out incredible amounts of damage.
• Cadian Command Squad - The strategic mind of any force, the commander deals out orders to troops from the rear, surrounded by key specialists.
• Leman Russ - Named for a Primarch, the Leman Russ Battle Tank is the iconic war machine of the guard, armed to bring down even the biggest targets.
